Char Siu Chicken is made with char siu sauce which has a unique savoury, sweetish and tangy profile. It is spicy and aromatic because of a blend of Chinese 5-spice, sesame oil, garlic & ginger. What also distinguishes char siu sauce from other sauces like chu hou or hoisin is the red food colouring which will result in a reddish hue to your chicken.
